channel_in_use

HTTP 409 · code: "channel_in_use" · type: https://docs.formfeed.dev/errors/channel-in-use

The release channel was not deleted, because renders of the last hour used it. Deleting it would make those callers fail with channel_not_found.

Example

{
"type": "https://docs.formfeed.dev/errors/channel-in-use",
"title": "Channel in use",
"status": 409,
"detail": "Renders of the last hour used this channel; pass force=true to delete it anyway",
"code": "channel_in_use",
"request_id": "req_4b7c1e9a2f3d4c5b8a6e7f9012"
}

Common causes

  • DELETE /templates/{id}/channels/{name} (or formfeed channels delete <slug> <name>) for a channel a staging environment, a test or an integration still renders.

How to fix it

  • Find out who renders the channel: formfeed channels list <slug> shows its renders of the last 24 hours, and the render log filters by template. Change those callers to another channel first.
  • If the renders do not matter any more, delete with ?force=true (--force in the CLI, { force: true } / force=True in the SDKs).

Retry?

Once no render has used the channel for an hour, the same request succeeds. Otherwise change the callers or force the deletion.
