test_output_unavailable

HTTP 403 · code: "test_output_unavailable" · type: https://docs.formfeed.dev/errors/test-output-unavailable

A test render asked a Word or PowerPoint template for its own format (docx or pptx) on a plan whose test renders carry the test mark, which is the Free plan. Those test renders produce the marked PDF only: a mark inside an editable document could simply be deleted. output is what was asked for, plan the plan, allowed what a test render may ask for. Nothing was rendered or charged.

Example

{
"type": "https://docs.formfeed.dev/errors/test-output-unavailable",
"title": "Output not available for test renders",
"status": 403,
"detail": "Test renders on the free plan produce the marked PDF only; request output \"pdf\", or render docx with a live key from the Starter plan on",
"code": "test_output_unavailable",
"output": "docx",
"plan": "free",
"allowed": ["pdf"],
"request_id": "req_4b7c1e9a2f3d4c5b8a6e7f9012"
}

In a batch, detail starts with the item (Item 3: …), and nothing is queued.

Common causes

  • A test key (ff_test_…) on the Free plan rendering an office template without output, which defaults to the template's own format.
  • An integration that always asks for docx.

How to fix it

  • Request "output": "pdf" to check the template with a test key. The PDF shows the same content, with the test mark.
  • Upgrade to Starter or above to render Word and PowerPoint documents with a live key. There, test renders may ask for docx and pptx too.

Retry?

No. Change output or the plan, then send the request again with a new Idempotency-Key or without one: a 4xx answer is stored under its key for 24 hours, so the old key returns this problem again. See retrying.
